Site Description:

The Aga Khan University (AKU) is a private, not for profit, university and teaching hospital system that comprises 13 campuses, 7 hospitals and 217 outreach medical centres across 8 countries. Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi (AKUH, N) provides tertiary and secondary level healthcare services and currently has a bed capacity of 300 and operates under the aegis of the Aga Khan Health Services. AKU established a Cancer Research Center to promote translational research that will contribute to multi- disciplinary, high quality oncology care that is patient centered, evidence based, and research oriented. The mandate of AKU’s Cancer Centre is to train and support a new generation of oncologists and cancer researchers in East Africa and to equip them to engage in innovative clinical trials geared towards reducing cancer morbidity, mortality and disparity in Sub-Saharan Africa. AKU’s Cancer Center in Nairobi is dedicated to clinical, basic and translational research in “all things cancer”.
