AKU established a Cancer Research Center to promote translational research that will contribute to multi- disciplinary, high quality oncology care that is patient centered, evidence based, and research oriented. The mandate of AKU’s Cancer Centre is to train and support a new generation of oncologists and cancer researchers in East Africa and to equip them to engage in innovative clinical trials geared towards reducing cancer morbidity, mortality and disparity in Sub-Saharan Africa.
