CIRKUITS: Looking Ahead in Year 5

Congratulations are in order as Community Impact to Reach Key and Underserved Individuals for Treatment and Support (CIRKUITS) moves into year five and remains a leader in helping Zambia close the remaining gaps in HIV epidemic control. From the start, CIRKUITS focused on providing HIV service from community peers to adolescents; key populations including men who have sex with men, female sex workers, and prison populations; men under 30 and transient populations; pregnant and breastfeeding women and their families; as well as the general population.

Standard Operating Procedures Workshop in Tanzania

University of Maryland, Baltimore’s (UMB) Ciheb Tanzania held a four-day workshop to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs). These SOPs are for sample collection and transportation of Acute Flaccid Paralysis (AFP) and Fever and Rash Illness (FRI) surveillance. The SOPs cover procedures related to specimen collection, packaging, sample transport, specimen tracking, biosafety, and the return of results.

From the Ciheb-Kenya newsletter, Celine shares her story of how the DREAMS Project part of CONNECT Program has changed her fortune. Celine is 22 years old and the firstborn in a family of five children. She was born and raised in Fuata Nyayo village in Nairobi, South Ward. She was enrolled in the Nairobi DREAMS project in 2016 while in Form Two.

Ciheb-Kenya Joins the Globe in Commemorating the World AIDS Day 2022

Speaking during a pre-World AIDS day event in Nairobi, the Head of the National AIDS and STI Control Program (NASCOP), Dr. Rose Wafula, reiterated that the Ministry of Health, through NASCOP, commits to exploring and connecting the global and national efforts that focus on impact and progress towards the 95-95-95 targets to end the AIDS epidemic by 2030.

Ciheb-Zambia Ushers in World AIDS Day 2022 Celebration

Ciheb-Zambia joined national and international leaders in Lusaka to observe World AIDS Day 2022, and in remembrance of those we have lost to HIV/AIDS. Guest speakers reiterated the need for world leaders and citizens to boldly acknowledge and address the inequalities that impede efforts to end AIDS and equalize access to vital HIV services.

Ciheb-Nigeria Receives Award of Excellence from the US CDC

Ciheb Nigeria recently received the US CDC award of excellence in data system design and surveys in recognition of its contributions towards the implementation of the National AIDS Indicator and Impact Survey (NAIIS) and re-designing the National Data Repository (NDR) for improved data management to strengthen the HIV response in Nigeria.
